 Thames Ferry Travel
Like all major European rivers Thames has also been a navigable one but not like its counterparts which have become industrial carriers, the Thames offers ferry services to visitors and daily commuters. Thames ferry is a good way of looking at London’s amazing modern architecture which is often contrasted by historical heritage buildings. The river front is also the highest concentration of attractions in all of Europe. The river offers a 50 km of navigable trip upstream from Docklands to Hampton Court.
For boat tours there are four major piers located along side London’s major tourist attractions. Westminster Pier where most of the tours start, Tower Pier which is right next to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, London Eye Pier which is next to London Eye, County Hall and South Bank arts complex and the Greenwich Pier which provides easy access to the World Heritage Centre of Greenwich.

One of the main trips on art lovers is Tate Boat, this takes visitors to two of the world's finest galleries. On this convenient and luxurious trip one can travel directly between Tate Britain (Millbank Pier) and Tate Modern (Bankside Pier).
Some operators organize sightseeing cruises and evening dinner & dance cruises on Thames all year round. On special occasions there are a number of operators organizing theme tours like Christmas Day Lunch Cruise and New Year's Eve Cruise where one can enjoy fireworks from the deck of one of the ferries on River Thames cruisers. |
