 St Pauls Cathedral Cathedral Church of Paul the Apostle also known as St Paul's Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral on Ludgate Hill. St Paul's Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of London. The cathedral is one of London's most visited sites.
The first stone of the cathedral was laid in 1677 and was completed on 20 October 1708. The Cathedral was designed by Architect Sir Christopher Wren. Some of the foremost artists and craftsmen in England in the construction and decoration of the Cathedral including Sir James Thornhill, Grinling Gibbons, Jean Tijou, Bernard Smith, Caius Gabriel Cibber and Francis Bird. The cathedral is built of Portland stone in a late Renaissance style, also known as the English Baroque and its done is inspired from the St Peter's Basilica in Rome. The height of the cathedral is 108 meters, width is 37 meters and its length is 158 meters. The north-west tower of the cathedral contains the largest bell in the British Isles, called the Great Paul.

The cathedral has a very substantial crypt, holding over 200 memorials, and serves as both the Order of the British Empire Chapel and the Treasury. The Cathedral has memorials British figures including The Duke of Wellington, Lord Nelson, Henry Moore, Sir Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, J. M. W. Turner, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Ivor Novello, Charles Cornwallis, Frederick George Jackson and Dr. Samuel Johnson.
There Cathedral also has memorials to commemorate the British military in gulf war and also home to American Memorial Chapel which commemorates American servicemen and women who died in World War II.
St Paul's Cathedral was used for the marriage of Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. Service for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebration was performed at the St Paul's Cathedral. Memorial service to honor the victims of September 11, 2001 attacks and the 7 July bombings were held at the cathedral.
