Oxford is the home of Oxford University, a world leading university and also the churning ground for Leading academics. Oxford is a city of two rivers, Cherwell and Thames and the rivers meet south of the city centre. Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires". The architecture of the city shows the influence of the Saxons and post Saxon era. The history of the iconic city dates back to 8th century and when the Saxons first occupied and named it Oxenaforda. By 10th century Oxford had transformed into an important military town. The University was started in the 12th century and has grown to what we all know today The Oxford University.
Some of the leading attractions in Oxford are Ashmolean Museum, Bodleian Library, Carfax Tower, Christ Church Cathedral, Modern Art Oxford, Museum of the History of Science, Oxford Botanic Garden, Pitt Rivers Museum, Sheldonian Theatre and St. Mary The Virgin Church.
University of Oxford or informally called Oxford University is the oldest English speaking university and also the world's leading academic institution. The university consists of 38 independent colleges. Bodleian Library or the Oxford's central research library is the second-largest library in the UK after the British Library.

Ashmolean Museum which takes back its history to 1683 is the oldest museum in the UK and the oldest university museum in the world. The museum is home to some of the world renowned works of artist like Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Turner, and Picasso.
Oxford has been the churning ground of work figures like Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair, Harald V of Norway, Abdullah II of Jordan, Manmohan Singh and Indira Gandhi, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Bill Clinton, Aung San Suu Kyi, Oscar Wilde, Stephen Hawking, Richard Dawkins,Hugh Grant,Kate Beckinsale, Dudley Moore, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Imran Khan to name a few.
