Horse Guards Parade London

Horse Guards Parade is located in central London and is a large parade ground off Whitehall. Tiltyards were common feature of late medieval palaces where tournaments and celebrations were held. Horse Guards Parade was the tiltyard for the Palace of Whitehall. Queen Elizabeth I had her birthday celebrations at the Horse Guards Parade.

Horse Guards Parade has been hosting a number of reviews, parades and other ceremonies since the 17th century. Some of the important event ceremonies on the annual calendar are held at the venue including Trooping the Color and Beating Retreat.

Horse Guards Parade will be one of the hosting locations for the 2012 Summer Olympics and will be the venue for beach volleyball competition.
